World Leprosy Day

WLD logo 2020

World Leprosy Day falls on the last Sunday in January each year, and provides an opportunity to focus our fundraising activities on the relief of this terrible disease.

World Leprosy Day 2022 is on Sunday 30th January and members of the Order of St Lazarus will be marking the day in a variety of ways – including offering prayer for those affected by leprosy and by the prejudice and discrimination that often results from it.

The Trust's World Leprosy Day fund-raising appeal for this year is in aid of the Nepal Leprosy Trust, raising money to provide a much-needed portable X-ray machine for the Lalgahd Leprosy Hospital.  You can read all about the project here and in the NLT's latest newsletter.

A PRAYER FOR THE ENDING OF LEPROSY AND ITS COMPLICATIONS

O God, whose Son our Lord Jesus Christ went about doing good and healing all kinds of illness; continue that his gracious work among us today; inspire those around the world who care for those with leprosy, who seek to prevent its continued spread and all those whose skills and compassion is improving the lot of those who suffer; and through them advance the purpose of your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
