In November 2024, The St Lazarus Charitable Trust responded to an emergency request from The Leprosy Mission team in Myanmar for funds to provide emergency food packs to 631 families affected by leprosy who are facing starvation; the Trust made a grant of £10,000.
Attached here is a report from TLM on the situation and the relief our gift has been able to provide. The report movingly and coherently portrays the plight of these sufferers and you will, no doubt, be struck by what an obstacle to their rehabilitation is the stigma they bear of having once had leprosy and the consequent prejudice they endure, even though many are now cured, having received the multi-drug treatment.
